This Business Mission was jointly organized by Enterprise Singapore (ESG) and Container Depot and Logistics Association (Singapore) (CDAS) in collaboration with Jurong Town Corporation (JTC).

The Business Mission was given the following objectives:
(a) to look at smart crane technologies used at the ports in China and Chinese Taipei to manage container operations;
(b) to visit crane manufacturers to assess their capability to customize overhead cranes for use in multi-storey container depot facilities in Singapore;
(c) study innovative automation solutions for crane systems that can potentially be implemented by inland container depot operators in Singapore; and
(d) understand the challenges and key success factors in industry collaborations between trade associations and knowledge partners.

There are 19 participants in this Mission, coming from Enterprise Singapore; CDAS; JTC and members of the Container Depot and Logistics Association (Singapore). The Study Mission Trip was from 07 to 13 April, 2019. The delegation visited and met with 5 crane manufacturers, and 2 Bureau of Commerce in China, and 2 crane manufacturers, 2 Container Terminals and 1 Container & Transport Association in Chinese Taipei.

Overall, the Business Mission to China and Chinese Taipei to study crane systems had been a success. The Trip Objectives had been fully achieved. It was a learning journey which allows participants the opportunity to learn about the crane industry and know more about the crane manufacturers. It facilitates exchange of ideas with the host companies and among the participants. The site visits and meetings provide the opportunity for sharing of experience, addressing common challenges and seeking resolutions to common problems.

The Study Mission Trip enables networking among the participants and the host companies, establishing friendly relationship that may promote business collaboration in the future.
